Hi, I’m Kamaria!

I am a senior at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Within the last 16 years, I have experienced many life changing moments that have molded me into the confident, hardworking, and enthusiastic person I am today. Currently, in high school, I am taking AP Macro/Economics, Dual Enrollment English, Honors Anatomy and Physiology, Honors US Government, Honors Statistics, Honors Spanish 4, and Honors Latinos in Action.

Alongside my academic workload, I am Captain of The Stoneman Douglas Color Guard team. We march with The Eagle Regiment Band in the fall and compete separately in the winter. Taking academically challenging courses and managing a rigorous practice schedule has allowed me to gain valuable time management skills that will help me in college.

I enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds and finding ways to connect with them. I believe that’s what makes us better people, constantly learning and accepting others for who they are and what they bring to our interactions. I truly enjoy learning by being hands on. My motto is very simple, “pay it forward”, which I learned very early in life. Getting involved in community service at a young age fueled my compassionate nature. I have given back through acts of service at orphanages, foster homes, and homeless shelters and have participated in several fundraisers for local, national, and international non-profit organizations. Not only does this fulfill me as an individual, but also it has inspired me to pursue a path in healthcare so that I can better assist those in need.

Aside from traveling and giving back, I have enjoyed dancing and performing for the last 13 years. I spent 10 years dancing at DANL Dance Studio in Coral Springs, Florida, but more recently, I have dedicated my time and energy to the Color Guard team at my high school. I went into this new performance arena with the same dedication and love for learning, and it has led to huge accomplishments. I have competed on state and national levels throughout Florida, Ohio, and Indianapolis. I have also had the honor to perform live on national television at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, and the London New Year’s Day Parade.

I hope this website gives you a small glimpse of who I am and what I aspire to be.
